Breastfeeding Champions

We are currently reviewing the role of the champion, feel free to contact us at Public Health with any queries regarding the future of the role. For other Somerset County Council volunteer opportunities and to sign up for notifications, please visit https://volunteering.somerset.gov.uk/

Breastfeeding champions are recruited to promote, protect and sustain breastfeeding within their local area, with the unique quality of being able to relate to mothers from a similar community, culture and values sets. They provide factual, evidence based information and research which enables mothers and families to make a fully informed choice about how they would like to feed their baby.

Social Media Breastfeeding Champion Public Health ran a social media campaign over National Breastfeeding Week and World Breastfeeding Week; the response received was excellent.  As a result of this interaction we are keen to recruit social media champions to help us promote and increase the reach of breastfeeding health promotion in this way again in the future.
