Keeping Active

Our physical wellbeing is important but so is our mental health – keeping active can support both!

Being active doesn’t just have to mean going for a run, it can be anything from playing games with the kids, dancing around the house, garden or taking part in an activity class online from the safety of your home – it all counts!

Zing Somerset

Zing have a range of activities and challenges to keep you busy inside and outside, including a range of equipment free games for the kids and parents alike. Sport England

Sport England has launched a movement for people to #stayinworkout and have lots of fun and creative ideas for people to get active at home here

NHS

The NHS have also created a range of short 10 minute workouts to be done in the home or garden at this time. These sessions don’t need any equipment and can be accessed here.  Many more NHS resources and videos are also available at the NHS Fitness Studio.

SASP

Our local partners Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) have also created a ‘Be Active at Home‘ resource as part of their online offer to all Somerset residents. There are lots of great ideas on there and the content will be regularly updated so keep your eye on here for ideas.

Joe Wicks

Personal trainer Joe Wicks is back with his FREE PE class for children, their parents AND grandparents on YouTube. Use the #PEwithjoe to share your experiences on social media. His YouTube channel also has lots of other videos – be prepared to sweat!

 

Change4Life

Change4life have compiled some activities to do as a family whilst confined to home including all of their 10 minute shake up activities. Stay Active whilst working – Desk Exercises

Exercise is beneficial in so many aspects of our lives, even in our jobs (don’t forget that sitting for prolonged hours is actually harmful to your health). But, during this time where social distancing and working from home is being encouraged, going to the gym or a class is not an option, currently.
